About      Me

Ok the about me.... the hardest part.... writing about myself.... but here goes nothing! My name is Kara, I am a born and raised Californian.  I love a good iced coffee, can probably live off sushi and dark chocolate the rest of my life and be totally content.  I love my home state, but Colorado has a special place in my heart and here is why; I met my best friend and future husband here, bought our first home just outside of Steamboat Springs (built originally in the 1900s), totally revamped it and made it our very own, but there was something missing and that was some tiny feet and little voices around the house, so what did we do? Well we added to our quiet life with a bit of noise and chaos.  Enter our first daughter Riley (born in 2016), then another sassy spirited girl Raegan three years later. It has been an adventure to watch these two crazy girls grow, pretty sure I was born to be a girl mom.    

 

Next up, a little about my background and love for photography.  I have always done photography since highschool but rather than take that seriously I focused most of my creative energy on painting and drawing.  Fast forward to when I had my girls... then I was all about the pictures.  Pictures I found to be so important when raising kids, they capture moments I would most likely forget, they are what we all have to remember all the good times with and the past moments that would seemingly be forgotten in the depths of our memories.  Nothing brings back those emotions better than looking back at any photograph from the past.  Once that happened I had all sorts of people reaching out to me asking me to capture their own special moments and then "Kara Hughes Photography" was born!  I absolutely fell back in love with photography and am so excited to get out there and meet some wonderful families and couples. So lets chat!   ​​
